Hello Fellow Chess Enthusiasts,

I am offering a series of lectures to kids and adults rated less than 1400. The first lecture in the series would be on the King's Indian Attack. If you are interested in a classroom setting lecture for you or your children, here at the Carrel Chess Club, please let me know.

Date: Wednesday, July 16th

Prerequisites: U1400 (If you would like to attend and your rating is higher you are welcome, but the theory is geared at the U1400 level)

Cost: $10.00 each

Time: 6pm - 9pm (including breaks)Materials Used: Books/DVD/Notes - The core of the lecture is built around notes from a lecture given by FM Steve Stoyko.

What is the KIA?: The great thing about an opening like the King's Indian Attack as White is that it is more about piece placement and positional motifs than it is about specific book lines. U1400s don't need to spend a lot of time memorizing lines to get a good middle game.

Famous Players That Used the KIA: Bobby Fischer and Gary Kasparov and many others.

Thank you,

Mike Carrel
